A blog produced by the Oregon Justice Resource Center discussing the death penalty (capital punishment) in Oregon and in the Ninth Circuit.
Oklahoma executed Michael Hooper, 39, at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester; he was pronounced dead at 6:14 pm local time.
Michael Hooper is the 4th person executed this year in Oklahoma (and the 100th in Oklahoma since the resumption of executions in 1990, post Furman), the 27th inmate put to death in 2012, and the 1,304th person executed in the U.S. since 1976.
The Oregon Justice Resource Center opposes the death penalty (capital punishment) in all circumstances. The death penalty is the ultimate, irreversible denial of civil liberties.
