Arizona executes Richard Dale Stokley

Arizona executed Richard Dale Stokley, 60, at a prison in Florence; he was pronounced dead at  11.12 am local time. The execution was scheduled at 10am today, however, the execution team ran into difficulty setting the intravenous lines, so they had to cut into an artery at the top of his leg/groin area to insert them.

The execution of Stokley was Arizona’s 34th since 1992. He is the 42nd individual put to death this year, and the 1,319th person executed in the U.S. since 1976.

The Oregon Justice Resource Center opposes the death penalty (capital punishment) in all circumstances. The death penalty is the ultimate, irreversible denial of civil liberties.
